Eclipse Setup

Overview

This document explains how to set up your development environment to develop the TMX Editor itself. While these instructions may be useful for developing other software, none of the things mentioned on this page are required to develop software which uses TMX Editor .

Install the Subclipse Plugin

  • Go to Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install ...
  • Choose Search for new features to install and click Next
  • Click on the New Remote Site... button.
    Name: Subclipse 1.2.x (Eclipse 3.2+)
    URL:  http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.2.x
  • Click Finish
  • Check Subclipse and click next
  • Accept the license agreement
  • Click Finish
  • Click Install All
  • Restart Eclipse

Install the Maven Plugin

  • Go to Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install ...
  • Choose Search for new features to install and click Next
  • Click on the New Remote Site... button.
    Name: m2eclipse-dev
    URL:  http://m2eclipse.codehaus.org/update-dev/
  • Click Finish
  • Expand the m2eclipse-dev list
  • Check Maven 2.0 Integration and click next
  • Accept the license agreement
  • Click Finish
  • Click Install All
  • Restart Eclipse

Import the Project

  • Right click anywhere inside the Package Explorer panel.
  • Select Import...
  • Choose Other -> Checkout Projects from SVN
  • Click Next >
  • Select Create a new repository location
  • Click Next >
  • Enter https://tmx-editor.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/tmx-editor
  • Click Next >
  • Select trunk
  • Click Next >
  • Click Finish

Enable Maven Dependency Management

  • Right click on the project (the tmx-editor [trunk] title)
  • Choose Maven -> Enable Dependency Management

Import Code Formatter Profile

  • Download eclipse-code-formatter.xml
  • Go to Window -> Preferences
  • Drill down to Java -> Code Style -> Formatter
  • Click Import...
  • Browse to the location where you downloaded eclipse-code-formatter.xml
  • Click Apply
  • Click OK
